CCP2 Workshop on Mathematical and Computational Methods in R-matrix Theory

13 - 15 September 2007, University College London, UK.

Please find the workshop programme here.

The workshop will bring together researchers using and developing R-matrix methods to describe electron (positron) atom and molecule scattering, ionization and interactions with light. The workshop will demonstrate the great diversity and strength of applications of R-matrix theory in atomic, molecular and optical physics, while also providing an opportunity to pool experience and expertise in theoretical techniques, algorithms and efficient (high performance) computational methodology. Open discussion will be welcome.

The talks will be published in the form of a book that will be sent to all participants. The workshop follows the QuAMP IV conference at UCL (see also this link) and will begin with a reception on the evening of 13 September. A workshop dinner will be arranged for 14 September.

Confirmed speakers:

Nigel Badnell (University of Strathclyde, UK):
"Towards an ICFTR R-matrix approach."

Philip Burke (The Queen's University of Belfast, UK):
"R-matrix theory: applications and challenges."

Kevin Dunseath (University of Rennes, France):
"Laser-assisted electron-atom scattering."

Location:

University College London, UK

Date:

13-15 September 2007.
The conference will start with registration and a reception on the evening of Thursday 13 September. It will finish early afternoon on Saturday 15 September.

Accommodation, Fees, Registration and Posters:

The scientific meeting is free, however accommodation and the conference dinner can be booked by registering with Christine Johnston (UCL) by 15 August 2007. A poster session will be organized if there is sufficient interest: please indicate when you register if you would be interested in presenting a poster.

Organizers:

Jimena Gorfinkiel, The Open University, UK.
Jonathan Tennyson, University College London, London, UK.
Martin Plummer, STFC Daresbury Laboratory, Cheshire, UK.
